Salome II

$ 19.95 CAD

The play tells in one act the Biblical story of Salome, stepdaughter of the terrach Herod Antipas, who, to her stepfather's dismay but to the delight of her mother Herodais, requests the head of Jokanaan (John the Baptist) on a silver platter as a reward for dancing the dance of the seven veils.

Lysistrata

$ 19.95 CAD

Originally performed in classical athens in 411 BC, it is a comic account of one woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesia war. Lysistrata persuades the women of Greece to with hold sexual privleges from their husbands and lovers as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace — a strategy, however, that inflames the battle between the sexes. The play is notable for being an early exposé of sexual relations in a male-dominated society. A play with a focus on gender-based issues. My illistration is inspired by Aubrey Beardsly.
